Updated: 2/13 pm June 6th, 2023

The Dairy Parade has been canceled due to the poor air quality caused by massive fires in Northern Canada. X101s John Eves spoke with City of Cortland Mayor Scott Steve on the decision to cancel tonight’s parade.

“Of course we are concerned about the young kids and everybody going around the town and going to the parade so we determined to cancel it. We’re hoping to get it rescheduled.” Steve said to X101.

There is no word of a possible reschedule date for the Dairy Parade as of now as planning will need to be done with the organizations who participate in the fair to see if a new date is even possible.

The Cortland County Dairy Parade is tonight, June 6th starting at 6:30 in the City of Cortland, rain or shine. This year’s parade will follow the same route as last year’s due to ongoing construction on Main Street in the City of Cortland. City Police ask you not park your car along the parade route seen below.

The parade will begin on Main Street near Maple Ave and proceed down North Main to Homer Ave right to the County Fairgrounds. This year after the parade at the Fairgrounds, will be the presenting of the parade awards, Dairy Ambassador Celebration and food and treats.

More information may be found at Cortland County Dairy Promotions Facebook page. X101s General Manager John Eves will also be a judge in this year’s parade.
