Boar’s Head Recall Expanded – Includes Now Ready-to-Eat Meat and Poultry Products

The USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service have announced the ongoing Boar’s Head deli meat recall has been expanded to include a recall of their Ready-to-Eat meat and poultry products due to possible listeria contamination.

The recall adds 71 products that were produced between May 10th and July 29th this year under the Boar’s Head and Old Country brand names. Items recalled do include meat for slicing at local stores and pre-packaged meat and poultry products sold nationwide. The products will have a “Sell by” date from July 29th thru October 17th. A full list of the recalled products may be found HERE.

Recalled products shipped to retailers will have an establishment number of EST. 12612 or P-12612 within the USDA mark of inspection.

As of July 30th, the Food Safety and Inspection Services says 34 people have been stricken with Listeria in 13 states, including locally in the Central New York Region. Two deaths have been reported.

The Cortland County Health Department recommends residents to not eat recalled products as Listeria can easily spread among deli equipment and isn’t killed at refrigerated temperatures.
