Blotter: Separate Reports of Grand Larceny, Fraud in Lansing & Auburn

Local News

A Lansing woman’s been charged with several counts of grand larceny after an extensive financial investigation by Ithaca Police over a year’s time.

That culminated with the arrest yesterday (October 3) of 67-year-old Diane Heffner, of Burdick Hill Road, who’s accused of stealing money and altering business records from a local organization in the City of Ithaca.

No specifics were given on exactly how much Heffner stole, but she was charged and arraigned on a total of five felony counts.

She was released to appear in city court on a later date.

An Auburn man is charged with welfare fraud and grand larceny, accused of stealing about $11K in SNAP benefits over a 9-month span beginning late last year.

Authorities say 39-year old Levon Johnson lied about his income to get this money and purposefully didn’t mention that he was making additional money.

His case is now being handled by the Cayuga County District Attorney’s Office.
