Blodgett Mills Man Arrested For DWI After Traffic Stop on Homer Ave. – Driving Double Legal Limit
Just after 1:30 in the morning on Saturday, October 18th, State Police say a Trooper witnessed a Jeep Grand Cherokee driving southbound on Homer Ave. in Cortland drive over double solid yellow lines. The Trooper conducted a traffic stop as a result.
During the traffic stop, State Police say Troopers smelled an odor of alcohol on the driver’s breath. The driver, 35 year old Walter L. Nichols of Blodgett Mills, was then asked to perform sobriety tests, which State Police say confirmed his impairment.
Nichols was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated, a Misdemeanor. He was taken to the State Police Barracks in Homer for processing. State Police say his reportable B.A.C. at the Barracks was .17%, over double the legal limit.
He was issued an appearance ticket to Cortland City Court in November before being turned over to a sober third party.
