It is the one year anniversary of the state allowing mobile sports wagering throughout the state and Governor Kathy Hochul announced New York has collected over $709.2 million dollars in taxes on bets, and an additional $200 million in licensing fees that have been collected.
The revenue, the highest in the country, will go towards education in the state.
“In just one year, New York has become a national leader in providing responsible entertainment for millions while bringing in record-shattering revenue for education, youth sports, and problem gambling prevention,” Governor Hochul said. “I look forward to another year of delivering top tier mobile sports wagering experiences that generate revenue to enrich the lives of New Yorkers across the state.”
Since January 2022, over 3.8 million player accounts have been created, according to GeoComply, with over 1.2 billion transactions.
