Behnke Confirmed by Common Council to Fill Open Legislative Seat

Kristin Valentine Behnke has been appointed to fill the open seat in the 5th Legislative District of the Cortland County Legislature after the resignation of Susan Wilson at the end of June. Behnke’s appointment comes after the City of Cortland Common Council voted to approve Behnke to fill the seat through the end of this year.

Behnke, a Democrat, will be on the ballot for the 5th Legislative, which covers the south eastern portion of the City of Cortland, come November. In a release by the Cortland County Democratic Committee, Behnke will work on the Legislature with a solutions-based approach. Her prior job experience includes Programs Manager at Cortland Repertory Theatre and is currently employed at Cornell University.
