The Cortland Arts Connect will be showcasing six poets and story writers during their “Author Night” tomorrow, April 20th from 6 to 8pm at the Center for the Arts in Homer.

The event is open to the public where they can then offer a free will donation. Finger foods will be available and a cash bar.

“I am really excited for it,” said Carol Fitzgerald, director of Cortland Arts Connect, formerly known as the Cultural Council of Cortland County. “I think it’s important for us to expand the audience we are reaching, to do more interactive events and to engage authors in the community,”

Authors include, Meghan Aagaard of McGraw, Philip Asaph of Cortland, Priscilla Berggren-Thomas and Nancy Avery Dafoe of Homer, Karen Foresti Hempson of Skaneateles and Bill Lee of Tully. All will read selected poems or portions of stories during the event.
Books that have been published by the authors will be available for purchase and the authors will discuss how they get their ideas onto print and will answer questions from the audience.

The evening is a way to celebrate the work from local writers, but also give them a platform to have their work into the public’s hand.
