Attempted Armed Robbery at Dandy Mini Mart in Ithaca

A call came into the Tompkins County 911 Center on Friday evening around 7pm for a report of a black male with his face covered walking into the Dandy Mini Mart on W. Buffalo Street in Ithaca, with what appeared to be an AR style rifle and then pointing it at the cashier working.




The suspect was able to flee the scene before police arrived. Officers learned the direction the suspect fled to and with the assistance of the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Department, were able to locate a male that matched the description provided to officers a short time later.

Evidence collected from the attempted armed robbery was also found nearby including a Mitchell Arms 16A3 .22 Caliber Rifle with a pistol grip and collapsible stock. The weapon also had a removable magazine loaded with ammunition inside.

Police charged 18 year old Sean J. Reese, of Binghamton, with Attempted Robbery in the 1st, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd, both Felonies.

Reese was remanded to Tompkins County Jail on $100,000 dollars cash Bail or 10% of $100,000 dollars Assured Bond. He is scheduled to appear in Ithaca City Court at a later date.
