State Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie was in Cortland this morning (September 16), where he was joined by Assemblywoman Barbara Lifton, Cortland Mayor Brian Tobin and others at Suggett Park.

All three spoke from the Suggett parking lot across Madison Street from the former Parker Elementary School, where they discussed child care and other issues facing city governments across New York.

Afterwards, the Speaker left for Dryden to visit Tompkins Cortland Community College’s new Arthur Kuckes childcare center before spending the afternoon in Ithaca.

His Ithaca visit included a meeting with EOP students at Cornell University’s Computing and Communications Center.

He then visited and got lunch at Mahogany Grill, before touring Ithaca Commons with city officials.

Today’s visit to Cortland and Tompkins Counties was part of his tour of Upstate.
