On Friday night, Cortland County Sheriff’s Deputies tried to stop a vehicle speeding on Rt 221 in Willet.

The driver was identified as Derick Ledger, who is 27.

Police say he tried to get away, but lost control of his vehicle twice – finally crashing on Landers Corners Road.

Deputies say he did not have a license, but was found with an unidentified controlled substance.

Ledger was also charged with leaving the scene of a property damage accident, speeding and other traffic tickets.

According to County Police, a woman from Ithaca blew through the stop sign at Luker Road and McLean Road early Sunday, just before 4 am.

Sara Anderson, 41, apparently didn’t see the Cortland County Sheriff’s Deputies.

The officers also say she fought with them, kicking, shoving and pushing them as they were taking her into custody. The officers were not injured.

Anderson was charged with DWI, Resisting Arrest and Failing to Stop.

According to deputies, Anderson was released following an appearance in Cortlandville Court until her next date in court.
