Investigators have arrested a Cortland man in yesterday (March 2) morning’s fatal stabbing that occurred just before 7:30 am at the Cortland Motel on Route 11 near Polkville.
The Cortland County Sheriff’s Office has charged 48-year-old John Goss with 2nd Degree murder and 3rd degree criminal possession of a weapon, related to the fatal stabbing of 31-year-old Attius Clakeley Jr., also of Cortland.
Clakeley was pronounced dead yesterday afternoon at Guthrie Cortland Medical Center, where Goss was also brought originally, before being transferred to Upstate Medical Center for treatment to non-life threatening stab wounds himself.
He was later released to authorities and is currently being held at the Cortland County Jail awaiting arraignment.
The Sheriff’s Office says the investigation is ongoing.
