Local authorities are investigating several recent thefts of catalytic converters from underneath parked motor vehicles outside homes and businesses across Cortland County.
The stolen equipment is typically then brought to scrap yards for an undisclosed amount of cash, leaving victims with expensive replacements to get their car back up-and-running.
Several agencies are investigating these incidents, including the County Sheriff’s Office, Homer Police Department and City Police Department, as well as New York State Police.
Anyone who may have information is asked to contact Inv. / Sgt. Stacy Billings of the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office – Criminal Investigation Division at (607)758-5536.
