Around 5:25 am this morning, December 20th, Homer Fire was dispatched to an odor investigation near the Mobile Gas Station at the corner of Route 281 and Route 90 in the Village of Homer.
Upon arrival, Homer firefighters confirmed an unusual fuel-type smell in the area and proceeded to investigate further to find the source of the odor. The investigation only expanded the area where the odor was detected. Additional calls came into Cortland 9-1-1 Dispatch for odor investigations in the village and surrounding areas.
At this time no source has been found, but a bystanders report shows the source may have come from a vehicle that was traveling through the county.
The Homer Fire Department says with the cold air temperature and calm winds, the odor continues to be present in the area.
