Area Fire Departments Make Quick Work of Barn Fire

Around 1:30 am Sunday, the Homer Fire Department was dispatched to the area of Route 13 and Forbes road for a potential structure fire that was called into 9-1-1 dispatch.


While units were responding to the scene, another call came in reporting a structure fire in the same area. Homer Fire immediately called for a 2nd Alarm all hands fire that brought in fire departments from around the area.

On arrival to the scene of the fire, firefighters found a shed that was attached to the barn engulfed in flames and spreading to the roof of the main barn. Crews worked quickly to stop the fire from spreading and knocked out the remaining flames in the shed. The fire was under control in about 20 minutes.

The cause of the fire is believed to be electrical. Assisting the Homer Fire Department was Cortlandville, Truxton, Cuyler, McGraw, Preble, Virgil, and Tully Fire Departments.

No injuries were reported.
