Applications Now Open For Volunteer Fire Infrastructure & Response Equipment Grant Program
The application period for the SFY2025-2026 Volunteer Fire Infrastructure & Response Equipment (V-FIRE) Grant Program is now open, New York State Senator Lea Webb announced. The program is a state-funded $25 million dollar competitive grant that supports the enhancement of the security and safety of the citizens in the state by providing critical funding to strengthen the volunteer fire departments and districts in the state.
“Our volunteer firefighters are the backbone of public safety in communities across the Southern Tier and throughout New York State. They put their lives on the line to protect our families, homes, and businesses, and they deserve access to modern facilities and reliable equipment to do their jobs safely and effectively. The V-FIRE Grant Program is a vital investment in our volunteer fire departments, ensuring they have the necessary infrastructure, training facilities, and response equipment to meet today’s challenges. I strongly encourage eligible departments and districts to apply and take advantage of this important opportunity.” Webb said.
Applicants who are eligible may apply for up to $1 million dollars if proposing for projects for construction, renovation, or purchase costs for critical facilities such as buildings, training facilities and more, all designated to support fire operations. Fire districts may also apply up to $500,000 for projects of allowable fire service equipment to upgrade and improve response capabilities.
Applications are due by February 25th by 5pm. Additional information may be obtained HERE.
