Another scam going around against grandparents, Sheriff’s Office warns

The Cortland County Sheriff’s Office has been investigating several complaints involving a scam technique where a subject calls the public and identifies himself/herself as being their Grandson/Granddaughter telling the grandparent that he/she has been involved in a traffic accident and that he/she needs bail money.




If this happens to you or someone you know, please reach out to the grandchild or to their parents to verify what you are being told is factual.

Officers are asking that any person(s) with any information relating to any similar incidents are urged to contact the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office at (607) 758-5599.
