Another Heroin Bust in The City of Cortland

On Wednesday, July 20th the City of Cortland Police and the Cortland County Drug Task Force arrested a wanted man by the City of Cortland, City of Auburn, and the New York State Parole.


Police witnessed 25 year old Richard T. Stevens walking down North Main St. in the City of Cortland while he had warrants from the jurisdictions mentioned above. When city police approached Stevens he began to flee on foot.

He was apprehended by police with the assistance of their K9 unit a short time later and resisted arrest. During his arrest Stevens was found to be in possession of 18 bags of heroin, 23 buprenorphine pills, packaging materials and a scale.

The value of the drugs found was over $400 dollars.

He was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 3rd degree, a felony, 2 counts of criminally using drug paraphernalia 2nd degree, criminal possession of a controlled substance, 7th degree, and resisting arrest, all misdemeanors.

Stevens was taken to Cortland County Jail with no bail.
