American Red Cross Looking For Blood or Platelet Donors – Type O Positive & B Negative Needed Most

The American Red Cross says they are looking for donors of either blood or blood platelets in order to keep the blood supply strong. The organization added in need the most for donations are those who are Type O Positive or B Negative blood. Those who donate now through October 19th will also receive a $10 Amazon gift card.

“For many, daily routines shift as the seasons change, but blood and platelet donations must remain top of mind. Every single donation is key to making sure all patients relying on critical transfusions, including car accident victims, those living with sickle cell disease and those facing cancer, get the care they need.” The American Red Cross says.

In Cortland County, the American Red Cross will host several blood drives throughout the county for the month of October. Drives include Cincinnatus, Cortland, Marathon, and Preble. There will also be drives in neighboring Tompkins County in Dryden, Ithaca, Lansing, and Trumansburg.

Walk-ins are welcome, but those with appointments will be given priority. You can make an appointment by visiting RedCrossBlood.org or by calling 1-800-Red CROSS.
