American Red Cross Announces Critical Call for Blood and Platelet Donors

The American Red Cross announced Monday that blood and platelet donors are urgently needed to keep the blood supply stocked for the remainder of the summer.

There is an emphasis on Type-O and platelet donors this year, as hospital shelves are having a hard time staying stocked as we enter the dog days of summer. Vital blood products are always in demand around-the-clock as hospitals work to save lives, but fewer people have answered the call to donate as of late.

The American Red Cross is rewarding those who give blood Between August 1st and 31st with a $20 Amazon Gift card by email. Donors across the country can feel good that their donation helped someone in need just by supporting the Red Cross.
