Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s ‘24 Ithaca/Cortland Walk Taking Place This Saturday
Residents in both Cortland and Tompkins Counties are being invited by the Alzheimer’s Association to join them in their fight to end Alzheimer’s with their annual Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s this Saturday, September 14th.
The walk will take place at Ithaca College with registration opening at 9am; the walk will start at 10am following an opening ceremony.
“This is a pivotal moment in the fight against Alzheimer’s. There are now treatments that change the course of the disease,” says Christine Corbett, vice president of development for the Central New York Chapter. “We hope that everyone in the community can join us to help the Alzheimer’s Association raise awareness and funds for families facing the disease today, take more steps toward treatments and finally end this disease.”
There are nearly 7 million Americans who are living with Alzheimer’s, which is a leading cause of death. Over 11 million family members and friends also provide care for those living with Alzheimer’s and other types of dementia. For New York State, over 426,000 live with the disease with over 540,000 caregivers.
