All-Atlantic Region Track and Field Conference (AARTFC) Taking Place At SUNY Cortland

SUNY Cortland’s athletic complex will be the site of this week’s AARTFC Outdoor Championships on Wednesday, May 15th and Thursday, May 16th.

The All-Atlantic Region Track and Field Conference (AARTFC) conducts two championship meets annually for NCAA Division III track & field teams in the Metro, Mideast, Mid-Atlantic and Niagara regions.

“There are approximately 50 colleges involved with this region and we expect around 700 athletes to take part in the competition.” stated Steve Patrick, SUNY Cortland’s Track & Field coach and meet director. With so many colleges as part of the conference, our community is fortunate to be chosen to host. That speaks to the dedication of Coach Patrick and his staff.

Having the overnight stays mid-week is also a bonus for the hotels and restaurants in our area. “This is definitely the kind of event we strive to attract”, said Machell Phelps, executive director of the Cortland Regional Sports Council. “We hope the community will welcome these athletes and spectators”.

The CRSC is assisting SUNY Cortland with the meet. A schedule of events can be found at
