The New York State Department of Environmental Conservations Air Quality Index forecast for today has listed Central New York’s air quality as “Moderate.”
The report of moderate air quality is considered one level below the standard quality of “Good.” The DEC measures the levels of outdoor air pollution throughout the state. The monitoring watches for pollutants that could be considered harmful to the health of New Yorkers.
A moderate standing the DEC states that the air quality remains acceptable. There may be some pollutants though that could be a moderate health concern for a small number of people who are unusually sensitive to air pollution.
The DEC provides a daily chart covering all regions of the state with air quality reports, that can be found HERE.
