Ithaca Police have released updates on the stabbing that occurred this past Friday night (December 7) in downtown Ithaca.
They previously reported that three juvenile subjects were in custody for their part in a gang assault and stabbing that occurred on North Cayuga Street. One male victim was airlifted to Cayuga Medical Center for lacerations to the face and back, where he is currently in critical, but stable condition.
Further investigation revealed that the victim and all three subjects did have some familiarity with each other, but Police have still not released any potential motive.
While state law prevents Police from releasing the names of the subjects, They have released their ages as 13, 15 and 16 years old.
One of the subjects in custody is also wanted in another state on two different warrants: One in connection with a homicide and the other related to a probation violation in connection with a rape. Police have not identified which of the juveniles had these warrants.
All three subjects are now detained in secure facilities as each of their cases proceed.
Two have cases pending with the Youth Part of the Superior Court, and the other in Tompkins County Family Court.
Both investigations are being led by the Tompkins County District Attorney’s Office.
