Access to Independence Shares Information on Blue & Teal Halloween Buckets

Halloween is right around the corner, and Access to Independence shares the important use of blue and teal trick or treat buckets in Cortland County. To help create a memorable and inclusive celebration to all here’s ways you can understand and participate this Halloween!

Blue Buckets serve as a queue for Autism Awareness, kids with autism can experience Halloween in unique ways some may be non-verbal and find social interactions to be challenging.

Teal buckets are for children with Food allergies, following the Teal Pumpkin project. It is highly recommended to hand out non food treats like glow sticks or stickers so children who are food sensitive can still participate in Halloween trick or treating.

Incorporating Blue and Teal Buckets in the community will ensure safety and inclusion. A simple gesture can go a long way.

How can you participate? Share the word to friends, family, and neighbors. Offer non-food items to your treats! And pay attention to the children’s buckets and respond appropriately. Create a memorable experience for every child in Cortland, if we all work together and make Halloween a magical and inclusive celebration, it will be a memorable day for all.
