Older Driver Safety Awareness Week is now underway, with the annual week-long campaign aiming to promote the importance of mobility and transportation to help ensure older adults remain active in their communities.
According to the organization AAA, senior drivers are among the safest drivers on the road; however seniors are most likely to be hurt or killed in a wreck due to age-related fragility. With the exception of teenagers, seniors have the highest rate of crash deaths per mile driven. AAA research shows that taking steps like daily exercise and stretching can help older drivers to have greater physical strength and flexibility.
This can help with various driving tasks including remaining better alert to potential hazards on the road and being able to move more freely to observe the road from all angles. Find out more information at aaa.com/senior.
