The Cortland YMCA has appointed a new Executive Director.
David Hamilton will take over operations at the Cortland YMCA on November 2nd.
Since 2011, Hamilton has served as Executive Director at the Clifton Springs Area YMCA.
Over four years, Hamilton nearly doubled the operating budget while transforming an annual operating deficit to a surplus. He increased facility membership from less than 50 to nearly 300 members.
Under his leadership, the Clifton Springs Y-M earned national recognition. He also implemented a computer network, website, social networking, and Daxko Operations to improve membership and program management.
Hamilton previously worked at the Auburn YMCA from 2007 through 2011, where he originated the Swim Free program.
Hamilton is from Homer and is a Homer High School and SUNY Cortland graduate.
Hamilton takes over more than a year after the YM board fired former Director Don Kline, a move that angered some of the membership and some members of the YMCA Board of Trustees.
Following Kline’s departure, the YMCA entered a management agreement with the Auburn YMCA to oversee the daily operations while a search was conducted.
