Thomas Upsets Dye in Cortland Primary Vote

The results are in for primary races in Cortland County.

Incumbents have held on in several local primary races.

In Cortland, there were three City Council seats up for grabs in primary contests.

In the second ward incumbent democrat, Kathryn Silliman has beat challenger Tom Terwilliger 42-33.

In the third ward, longtime city councilman Ken Dye has been beaten by democratic challenger Gary Thomas 51-12. Thomas previously served as a county legislator representing a portion of Cortlandville.

Thomas will take over the seat as there is no general election opponent.

In the 7th ward incumbent, democrat Linda Ferguson has survived a challenge from fellow democrat Kristen Dye 46-17.

In the county legislature 2nd district, incumbent Democrat Amy Cobb has beaten Derek Reynolds 32-15. In the 12th district Republican Joe Steinhoff has fended off a challenge from Lisa Miller 75-39.
