Fans can bid on meeting Paul McCartney at his upcoming Columbus, Ohio gig on October 13th.
Charitybuzz.com is holding the online auction for two concert tickets along with meet and great passes at his Nationwide Arena show, with all proceeds going to help renovate the Liverpool College Of Art where John Lennon and original Beatles bassist Stuart Sutcliffe studied. The school was purchased by the neighboring Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA), which Paul McCartney co-founded.
LIPA, which is housed in the building where McCartney and George Harrison’s school — the Liverpool Institute High School For Boys — was located, sits next to Lennon’s college. The estimated worth of the concert bid is $25,000. The high bidder will win the tickets, the passes, a chance to meet McCartney, and be acknowledged on a brass plate within the refurbished building. The bidding ends on Wednesday, September 23rd at 3:00:00 PM EDT.

During his final in-depth TV interview in 1975 on NBC’s Tomorrow Show, John Lennon explained that a major part of his and the Beatles’ allure was the fact that they were never ashamed of their Liverpool roots: “We were the first working class singers that stayed working class, and pronounced it. ‘Didn’t try to change our accents, which in England were looked down upon — probably still are — like a Bronx accent, it’s the equivalent to that.”
