TC3 Student Arrested For Raping Woman on Tompkins Street in Cortland

Cortland City Police have arrested a Tompkins Cortland Community College student who is accused of raping a woman on Tompkins Street Sunday morning.

Police arrested 20-year-old Nicholas Vicioso of 422 Hunter Ave. Staten Island, New York. Vicioso is charged with rape in the 1st degree a class B felony.

Vicioso, who is a student at Tompkins Cortland Community College and resides in the dorms at the Dryden campus is accused of having sex with a 19-year-old woman outside a home on Tompkins Street early Sunday morning.

The woman reported the attack and said the contact was against her will.

Vicioso was arraigned and sent to the county jail on $5 thousand dollars cash or $10 thousand dollars bond.

Police remind students that sexual assault is never the fault of the victim.

In order to help prevent rapes from occurring police say make sure all contact is clearly consesnsual.

People who are incapacitated by alcohol or drugs cannot give consent.

Be assertive about boundaries. If you feel uneasy or sense something is wrong, call for assistance.

If you have been sexually assaulted report it immediately.
