Ithaca College Cutting 40 Positions

Local News

Ithaca College plans to cut 40 positions this year. This is the second year in a row the college has cut staff in an effort to reduce or control costs.

Ithaca college spokesman Dave Maley says most of the job cuts will come through positions not being filled after retirements, but some of the cuts will come from layoffs.

Last year, the college cut 47 positions saving about $3.1 million, and reductions this year aim to save about $1.5 million.

The move to restructure is an effort to keep enrollment stable by holding down the cost of tuition.
