Ithaca Police Investigate Home Invasion Robbery in Fall Creek Neighborhood

Ithaca Police are searching for a suspect who is accused of beating and robbing an elderly man.

Just after 9 p.m. Saturday night police responded to a home on North Cayuga Street in the Fall Creek neighborhood.

Police say the elderly man heard a knock at his back door when he went to open the door an unidentified woman burst in and began punching him repeatedly in the face.

The victim knocked to the floor. During the assault, the woman stole his wallet, which contained cash and credit cards.

The man sustained injuries to his face, including bruising and a cut above his left eye. He was taken to Cayuga Medical Center for treatment.

The woman is described as a white, young adult with an average build and dark hair. Anyone with information is asked to contact investigators at 607-272-9973.

Ithaca Police would like to remind residents to call police regarding any suspicious behavior observed. Police say to use caution when responding to unfamiliar visitors and advise not to open the door for strangers.
