Man Facing Charges For Dumping Fuel Into Storm Drains at Homer Gas Station

Local News

The Homer and Cortland Fire Departments responded to a fuel spill at the Express Mart gas station in Homer this morning. Police say a man intentionally dumped fuel into a storm drain.

Around 1:15 this morning, police and firefighters responded to the gas station on the corner of Route 90 and Route 281.

An unidentified man had accidentally fueled his diesel truck with regular fuel. Instead of calling for help the man is accused of draining the fuel into storm drains on the property. Homer Police say he discharged approximately 10 gallons into the storm sewer.

The Cortland Hazmat team along with the DEC spill Response Team and DEC Environmental officers responded.

The driver is facing charges, no one was injured and there is no threat to local drinking water.
