Update: Missing Chenango County Man Found Alive Saturday Has Died

The WXHC newsroom has received multiple reports that searchers have located 81-year-old Alfred Turshman.

The Town of German man went missing last Friday. He has been found alive this morning.

According to Cortland County Emergency Management Coordinator Scott Roman, Turshman was located this morning in a wooded area on North End Road in German. A medical helicopter being called in to airlift Turshman was canceled. He was transported to Wilson Medical Center via ambulance. His condition is unknown.

Turshman, who suffers from some form of dementia and has trouble hearing went missing Friday, August 14th. Dozens of searchers including State Police, Forest Rangers, civil air patrol, and volunteer firefighters have spent the past week searching heavily wooded areas in Chenango and Cortland County.

Rescuers drained a pond on Turshman’s property in an effort to locate him.
