U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand was in Ithaca Monday meeting with business leaders and educators to talk business growth.
U.S. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, D-New York, attended a roundtable discussion in Ithaca on Monday with about 20 people who represented local businesses, start-up companies, and higher-education institutions.
Cornell University received a $500,000 federal grant earlier this year to support start-up businesses.
The grant will fund the Southern Tier Innovation Hot Spot, which is a collaboration among Binghamton University, Cornell University, Corning Inc. and the Ceramics Corridor Innovation Center.
Gillibrand says the money is intended to help students, professors and innovators turn their ideas and research into real, tangible businesses.
