An original report by WIVB/WBNG that 58-year-old Mark Croce, who died yesterday in a plane crash, was the owner of the Dinosaur BBQ restaurant has been corrected to reflect that he only owns the building in Syracuse it occupies.
Croce also owns several other Western NY food chains. His passenger, 63-year Michael Capriotto, was also killed in the crash.
Both men were from Orchard Park and were prominent businessman in the Western NY region.
The actual owner of the Dinosaur BBQ is John Stage.
ORIGINAL STORY 11:15 a.m.
The owner of the Dinosaur Restaurant was reportedly killed in a helicopter crash last night (January 9) in Silver Spring Township, PA.
WBNG reports that 58-year-old Mark Croce was the pilot of a helicopter that was heading from Buffalo, N.Y. to Washington D.C. when crashed into the ground for an unknown reason, killing one passenger as well.
No injuries were reported on the ground.
The cause of the crash is now being investigated by the Federal Aviation Administration.
