Volunteers from Hospice of Central New York’s Cortland Office on Saturday (November 29) decorated the Homer Village Green in preparation for this Friday’s “Light of my Life” tree lighting ceremony.

Members of the community are invited to donate $5 or more and have a symbolic light placed on the tree in memory or honor of a loved one, with all proceeds supporting Hospicare & Palliative Care Services – the sole provider of hospice services in Cortland and Tompkins counties.

Donations that were received by Nov. 28 will be on display for Friday’s Tree Dedication, which begins at 6:30 p.m.

The list will be updated December 16 with names received between November 28 and December 15.

Saturday was also a special day that brought Santa Claus into town, who arrived to the village thanks to a special escort by the Homer Fire and Police Departments.
