Emergency crews in Tompkins County yesterday (December 2) responded to a collision between a car and a plow truck, which happened around 9:30 a.m. on Slaterville Road, near Burns Road in the Town of Ithaca.

Officials arrived to find the passenger vehicle located off the road and down an embankment with two people inside, one of which was a woman who was trapped.

The driver was able to climb up and out the window.

IFD Heavy Rescue was requested to the scene along with an additional fire engine, as rescue teams worked to secure the car from slipping further down the ravine in the snowy conditions.

Eventually, they were able to successfully extricate the woman from the car.

She and the driver were brought to nearby hospitals to be treated for minor injuries, as was the driver of the plow truck, which was still up on Route 79.

Ithaca Fire Rescue, Bangs Ambulance, the Tompkins County Sheriff and NY State Police responded to the scene.

The cause of the crash is still being investigated.
