A Lafayette woman was arrested for grand larceny and forging checks on Friday (November 29) following a lengthy fraud investigation by members of the Cortland County Sheriff’s Department.
Authorities say 44-year-old Rebecca Rogers, of Route 11, stole more than $3,000 from her employer while working at a local business in the Town of Homer over the course of five months.
She also stole company checks in order to utter the money at a bank in the town of Cortlandville.
Rogers was arrested at the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office after turning herself in and charged with 20 Class D Felony counts, including two counts of 3rd Degree Grand Larceny in both Homer and Cortlandville. Her additional 18 counts were related to the checks she stole.
She was due back in Cortlandville Court yesterday.
