Authorities Search for Man Forcibly Touching Women at Knifepoint in Ithaca

Local News

Deputies with the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office are looking for a man who they say forcibly touched two different women over the past month, wielding a knife and wearing a ski mask in both incidents.

The suspect’s described as a white man, about 20-30 years old who stands between 5’6″ and 5’8″ with a stocky build.

Authorities say the first incident happened on October 14, near the Finger Lakes Trail in the 2600 block of Danby Road. The second occurred two weeks later on October 28, on the Thayer Preserve Trail near Sand Bank Road.

Both occurred in the early evening hours before dusk and are potentially related.

Deputies have since increased patrols in the area until a suspect is identified, and they’re now urging members of the public to be vigilant when visiting nearby.

Anyone who may have information on the possible identity of the suspect is asked to call the Criminal Investigations Division at 607-257-1345.
