Local Marine Corps Veteran Norm Stitzel stopped by WXHC and spoke with Vinnie Bellardini about the 2nd Annual “Night at the Canteen” event at the Homer Elks Lodge (#2506), a night of entertainment for Veterans that also raises money for many services that aim to support them.
Stitzel is an active member of the local Disabled American Veteran Chapter #153, which sponsors the event.
He’s also founder and CEO of VET S.A.R (Veteran Search and Rescue), which he launched in 2014 to seek out other area Veterans who may need help with mental health, navigating the VA and other common issues they experience.
For the past nine years, Stitzel has also served as Chaplain for the Cortland County Marine Corps League Det. #221, where he’s been Commandant for eight of those years.
Additionally, Stitzel is an active member of the Disabled American Veterans, American Legion, and the V.F.W., which provide opportunities to veterans of all eras, including WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Afghanistan, Iraq and Peace Time.
