Two inmates at the Cortland County Jail were handed new charges on Friday (October 19) after a physical altercation that resulted in three injuries, including two corrections officers who stepped in to break up the altercation.
According to the Cortland Sheriff’s office, the inmates who got into an altercation were 27-year-old Jason Hudson, of Madison Street in Cortland, and 24-year-old Ronnik Richardson, of Brooklyn.
One of them was injured in the incident as well, but officials didn’t specify which.
Investigators say they found an item typically provided to inmates that Hudson had forged into a dangerous weapon, which he tried using against Richardson.
Both will now appear in city court for their new charges on a later date.
