Services have been set for fallen Homer Firefighter Robert Bush, who passed away on Saturday (October 19) while at a nearby fire training.
A small graveside burial is planned for Saturday morning at the Truxton Cemetery at 11:00, featuring a color guard from Homer Fire Department. Bush’s remains will be brought to the burial site in one of Homer’s fire engines.
Following the burial will be a celebration of life reception at the Homer Fire Department beginning around Noon.
According to Chief Mahlon Irish, Bush collapsed shortly after he reporting problems with his bronchitis during a vehicle extrication exercise.
Bush was a new recruit, having only been with the department for three months.
The official cause of death is still unconfirmed, pending an autopsy and further investigation by the State Fire office.
