A Syracuse man was arrested last Friday (October 4) in Cortland after he was found in possession of more than a half ounce of crack cocaine, according to city of Cortland Police Detective Lt. Michael Strangeway.
Officers stopped a vehicle on Port Watson Street just before 5 p.m., which was being operated by 23-year-old Jalen Searight. Police initially found him to be driving on a suspended license.
Further along in their investigation, CPD investigators at the scene were soon able to locate the drugs in the defendant’s possession.
He’s now charged with two felony counts and a misdemeanor and was remanded to Cortland County Jail, scheduled to appear in City Court next Friday (October 18).
