UPDATE (10/10/19, 2:43 PM)

The man killed in a Tully construction site accident yesterday (October 9) has been identified as 41-year-old Jeffrey Stout of Homer.

Authorities have not identified the other Suit-Kote employee involved in the incident.

ORIGINAL STORY

A Suit-Kote employee was pronounced dead yesterday (October 9) afternoon, after being struck by a construction vehicle while directing traffic at a work site on Route 80 and Woodmacy Road in Tully.

The Onondaga County Sheriff’s office says another unnamed Suit-Kote worker was backing up a dump truck at that site, when he accidentally ran over the man just before 1:30 p.m, causing him traumatic injury.

A medical helicopter was initially called to the scene, along with multiple emergency response teams, but it was too late and the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Route 80 was closed for several hours while crews process the scene, between Vesper and Long Road.

It reopened around 7 p.m.

The incident is still under investigation.
