Members of local law enforcement will join their colleagues across the nation in wearing pink badges for the duration of October, in support of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Among those participating will be officers with the City of Cortland, SUNY Cortland and Ithaca City Police Departments, along with the Cortland County Sheriff’s Department.

Additionally, Ithaca Police Department’s K-9,”Rex,” is also sporting a pink badge (see below).

Homer Village Department will also be wearing pink wristbands.

In order to get those badges, each officer made an individual donation to the Cancer Resource Center of the Finger Lakes (CRCFL), which raises money to fund research and treatment for all types of cancer.

Local departments have taken part in this noble cause for several years in a row now.

Members of the community can also get involved by donating to the effort at CRCFL.net.
