Officers with the Cortland County Sheriff’s Department arrested a Homer man for DWI Friday (September 27) night, after he went off the road just past 9 p.m. and wrecked his truck off Route 11 Southbound in the town of Homer.
Deputies say 25 year-old Austin Parker, of North Main Street Homer, was driving a 2000 Dodge pickup truck when he lost control and sheared a utility pole, taking down both power lines and a live transformer.
Parker then continued through several residential yards before finally coming to a forced halt in an overgrown field. He attempted to flee the scene, but was soon located and arrested by responding officers after a brief struggle.
TLC then transported Parker to Guthrie Cortland Medical Center, where he was processed and treated for minor cuts he sustained in the crash.
Authorities said he was the only person involved in the incident.
Parker was arraigned the following morning in Homer Town Court and is scheduled to appear back on October 15.
The Sheriff’s Office says their investigation continues and that more charges are possible.
