Lieutenant Governor Kathy Hochul will be in Cortland today (September 25), meeting with Mayor Tobin and other officials for a discussion on the city’s Downtown Revitalization Initiative.
Cortland was named a recipient of DRI funding back in July 2018, when Gov. Cuomo announced $10M in grants to support ten transformational projects in the downtown district.
Vine Health & Fitness Center on Main Street is already complete, with several other projects planned, including the renovations of numerous mixed-use areas & buildings and the eventual return of a two-way Main Street.
More progress on DRI construction is pending that on the city’s ongoing Gateway project, which is currently replacing major water main lines underneath Clinton Avenue.
Cortland’s DRI is a multi-year process, with more downtown construction expected as early as next year.
Lt. Gov. Hochul is expected around 1:30 p.m. Stay tuned for more on her visit.
