A Homer man was arrested for drunk driving just before 9:00 Friday (September 6) night, after he caused a head-on crash in Preble that sent himself and three others to Upstate Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries.

According to the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office, 62-year-old Robert Burns, of Route 41, was travelling southbound on Route 281 in a 2013 Chevrolet pickup truck when he crossed over the middle line and struck a northbound Lexus SUV, sending it off the roadway and onto its side.

That SUV was being driven by Anthony Iozzo, of Tully, and also contained two unidentified passengers.

All three were sent via ambulance to Upstate Medical Center and treated for minor injuries.

Burns was also brought to Upstate for minor injuries, but not before he was arrested at the scene for Driving While Intoxicated.

Preble Fire Department, TLC Ambulance, Ron’s Auto, and CNY Towing all assisted with the investigation and scene clean up.
