Parents Call For “Immediate Task Force And Forum” After Cortland Schools’ Transportation Mishap

Local News

Yesterday (September 5) was the first day of the newly organized Cortland City School District, and things reportedly got a little hectic regarding student transportation.

An online petition was filed yesterday evening, where many parents of district students complained of things like several hour long bus delays, students being put on the wrong bus and even students who were left behind at their school.

On top of the transportation errors, the petition claims yesterday’s confusion also held up the County’s 911 communication center with worried parents. It also claims that phone calls to both the school and bus garage went unanswered during this time.

Multiple parents even report their children have been traumatized by yesterday’s events.

The petition not only demands the immediate creation of a transportation task force to rectify these issues, but also the scheduling of an open community forum to give an update on exactly what happened.

WXHC News reached out to the school district for comment and has not yet heard back, but stay tuned with us on this developing story.

The online petition asks for 1,000 e-signatures and so far has more than 700.
