U.S. Census Bureau Begins Canvassing In Cayuga Heights

Local News

The Cayuga Heights Police Department yesterday (August 26) announced that federal officials with the 2020 U.S. Census Bureau have begun canvassing in the Village and will gradually make door-to-door contact with residents.

These federal workers are identifiable by both a Governmental ID and a Vendor Registration Card issued by Cayuga Heights PD. To be safe, it’s advised you request to see both forms of ID before you allow anyone in your home.

The U.S. Constitution requires the official census to be updated every 10 years, determining an accurate seat count in the House of Representatives, as well as a measure of state and federal fund distribution for schools and highways.

Demographic data is collected for statistical purposes only, meaning that no person or household will be identified during this process.

Census workers are sworn to confidentiality Under Title 13 of the United States Code.
